Chase Dollander’s injury a bummer for Rockies and fans | The Starting Lineup
Turn on the game!
Three must-see events this week:
- PGA Championship, final round (11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, CBS) — It has not been the birdie fest many predicted. Instead, Aronimink Golf Club has been a stern test with a crowded leaderboard.
- Game 7: Cleveland at Detroit (6 p.m. Sunday, Prime Video) — The only Game 7 of the second round after the Pistons destroyed the Cavs in Cleveland. The winner plays the Knicks, who haven’t played in what seems like a month.
- Game 1: Golden Knights at Avalanche (6 p.m. Wednesday, ESPN) — It will be too long of a wait to get this series going after the teams clinched last week. The Avs scored nine goals in a Game 1 the last time they had an extended break.

Numbers game
16 — total wins for Colorado women’s lacrosse, which saw its season end with a 13-12 double-overtime loss to Northwestern. The wins tied a school record and the run to the NCAA quarterfinals was the program’s deepest yet.

On this day
May 17, 1985 — The Nuggets dropped Game 3 of the Western Conference finals 136-118 to the Los Angeles Lakers in Denver. Calvin Natt scored 30 points for the Nuggets, but it wasn’t enough as James Worthy and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar had big games for the Lakers.
Final word
The Rockies can’t have nice things. Pitcher Chase Dollander was starting to look like the real deal before being pulled in a game due to arm stiffness against the Pirates. Fortunately for the Rockies and Dollander, it doesn’t seem to be major damage and he will only be out a month. But as a team trying to build something, missing a must-watch pitcher like Dollander hurts.
