Colorado pilots prepare for summer of fly-ins, flyovers, major aviation celebrations

Colorado’s aviation community is gearing up for a busy summer filled with fly-ins, airshows, educational events and coordinated flyovers marking the nation’s 250th anniversary of independence.

The Colorado Division of Aeronautics highlighted the season in its June 24 “Hetty’s Hangar” newsletter, encouraging pilots and enthusiasts to participate in events across the state.

A centerpiece of the summer is the Colorado250 Flyover on July 4. Pilots are invited to take to the skies in coordinated formations visible from communities throughout the Centennial State to honor 250 years of independence. Details and registration are available at Colorado250Flyover.com.

Later in the summer, the Colorado 150 Centennial Flyover: Colorado Takes Flight! is scheduled for Aug. 1 to mark the state’s 150th birthday. Pilots from airports across Colorado will fly simultaneously in coordinated formations. Registration is open at Colorado150Flyover.com.
