Colorado state trooper arrested on sexual assault charges in Loveland
A Colorado State Patrol trooper was arrested Friday following allegations of sexual assault that date back to 2024.
The Loveland Police Department said it received a report June 15 from a victim, who identified 34-year-old Jeremiah Jon Patterson as the suspect. Patterson has been employed by the State Patrol since December 2020, according to authorities.
Officers received information Friday indicating Patterson might travel to Loveland to locate the victim. Police used Flock Safety cameras to find Patterson and conduct a traffic stop.
Patterson was then arrested and booked into the Larimer County Jail. He faces two felony charges, including sexual assault by force and second-degree assault involving strangulation.
Investigators said Patterson and the victim know each other and that the alleged crimes occurred while Patterson was off duty.
A Larimer County magistrate set Patterson’s bond at $25,000 over the weekend. The district attorney requested that bond be set at $175,000, according to authorities.
The State Patrol said Patterson was placed on administrative leave immediately following his arrest.
Loveland Police Chief Tim Doran praised the victim for reporting the allegations.
“I truly commend the tremendous courage of the victim to come forward and disclose this nearly two-year-old sexual assault allegation,” Doran said in a statement.
In a statement, the State Patrol said it takes its standards and responsibilities seriously and would defer to the Larimer County District Attorney’s Office and the judicial system regarding the charges.
Police are asking anyone with information about similar incidents involving Patterson to contact the Loveland Police Department tip line at 970-962-2032 or Larimer County Crime Stoppers at 970-221-6868.
