Denver Weather: Sunny with potential for large hail and afternoon thunderstorms
Sunny skies in the morning hours, but Denver residents can expect things to take a turn this afternoon.
The National Weather Service in Boulder said to expect mostly sunny skies in the morning hours and a high of 89 on Monday before afternoon storms move in. There will be a 40% chance of thunderstorms mainly after 2 p.m., according to the weather service.
That’s about 3 degrees hotter than the average high for June 22 in Denver, according to weather service archive data. The record high is 102, last set in 2012.
“Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms will return to the plains this afternoon into early evening,” the National Weather Service in Boulder said in a post on X. “A few storms may develop over the urban corridor as well, with the large hail potential increasing with eastward extent into the plains.”

Meteorologists with the National Weather Service in Boulder said to expect temperatures to drop to a low of 59 tonight and to expect mostly clear skies after the thunderstorms clear.
The week ahead is expected to bring similar conditions, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. Denver residents can expect temperatures in the mid to high 80’s this week and sunny skies expected in the mornings, and a chance for afternoon thunderstorms each day.
