El Paso County deputy charged with unlawful sexual conduct
An El Paso County Sheriff’s deputy was arrested on Tuesday night in unincorporated El Paso County and charged with unlawful sexual conduct, according to a news release by the Sheriff’s Office.
Christopher Ramirez, 34, was taken into custody without incident after the Sheriff’s Office received a call stating an adult male had entered a business in the 6800 block of Fountain Mesa Road and allegedly inappropriately touched an adult female, according to the release.
The victim had gone to buy alcohol at a counter when Ramirez allegedly slapped her butt, to which she responded by chasing him and punching him twice in the face, court documents obtained by The Gazette show.
The victim claimed the two men with Ramirez told her the act was “messed up for him to do” and raised their hands in innocence.
Ramirez allegedly left soon after in a truck with Texas plates with the men.
Investigating deputies spoke with the cashier and reviewed surveillance footage, which both verified the victim’s account of events, according to court documents.
Rameriez was unknown to the victim, the release stated.
He was released on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond on Wednesday after his advisement hearing, the release stated. He is slated to appear before an El Paso County judge for a pretrial conference on Tuesday.
Ramirez has worked with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office since November 2024. He was last assigned in the Detention Security Division and has been placed on administrative leave.
