Man arrested in connection with Aurora fatal alleyway shooting of 25-year-old
A man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a fatal Aurora shooting that took place 10 days prior.
Carlos Zarco, 50, faces a second-degree murder charge for allegedly shooting and killing a 25-year-old man in an alley between the 1400 blocks of Dallas and Clinton streets around 4:30 a.m. on June 7, the Aurora Police Department said on social media Thursday.
Investigators believe that a group of people were outside in the alley that morning when an argument broke out, and a man, allegedly Zarco, shot and killed the victim, police said. The victim was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Zarco allegedly fled the scene before officers arrived, police said. He was arrested Wednesday by the department’s Fugitive and Narcotics Unit following an extensive investigation.
The victim will be identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office pending an autopsy and notification of family.
Investigators are still looking to speak with witnesses who may have additional information about the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward up to $2,000.
