Man arrested in connection to two Aurora explosions

An Aurora man was arrested Friday night in connection with two explosions last month in southeast Aurora.

Scott A. Campbell was taken into custody by the Aurora Police Department’s (APD) SWAT team around 11 p.m. Friday at his home in the 3500 block of South Uravan Street.

Campbell is suspected of detonating two explosive devices in two separate incidents that began Christmas Day, police say.

The first explosion caused damage to two homes in the 18000 block of East Mansfield Avenue in the early hours of Christmas Day.

A second explosion damaged one home in the 4600 block of South Pagosa Circle on shortly before 5 a.m. on Jan. 7.

Campbell is being held in the Arapahoe County Jail on a $1 million bond and is scheduled to make an initial appearance on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., according to online court records.

The arrest came following a joint investigation between the multi-jurisdictional Regional Anti-Violence Enforcement Network (R.A.V.E.N.), Aurora Fire Rescue’s Fire Investigation Bureau, U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (A.T.F) and APD.

Additional information about the case is not being released at this time.
