Crews are working to restore power after thousands of people lost electrical service in Denver, Federal Heights and Westminster Wednesday night.

According to the Xcel Energy outage map, the loss of power began at 9:18 p.m. and affected more than 5,300 customers. Westminster police indicated via social media that the power outage affected the area from 104th-88th Ave from Sheridan to west Westminster.

Power is expected to be restored around 10:45 p.m. At the time of posting, Xcel had not explained what caused the outage.
