News Nuggets: Register your Denver Days block party

Denver Days is a week-long celebration during which neighbors, families, friends, and peers can host a residential block party or park picnic from July 26 to Aug. 3.

Permit fees will be waived for eligible gatherings. Events that require a permit from the Office of Special Events do not qualify as Denver Days gatherings.

Picnics may not have large sound systems, bands, food trucks, alcohol (for sale or service), open flames, generators over 5 kW, propane, or similar amenities.

Picnic attendees may consume their own beer, wine, or champagne and activities must stay within designated boundaries.

Got noise?

When complaints of excessive noise are received by the Denver Department of Public Health and Environment, an inspector is assigned to investigate the incident.

If the complaint is legitimate, the source of the noise (individual/company/organization) receives a verbal or written warning of the violation requiring a reduction in noise to a legal level. Those who do not comply with the warning may be issued an administrative citation or a court summons. Fines of up to $5,000 per incident can be levied by the court.

Denver residents may file a noise complaint in two ways: call 3-1-1 or (720) 913-1311 or file a complaint online at https://denvergov.org/Online-Services-Hub.

Latino Community Service Awards

The Denver Public Library is looking to recognize spirited, passionate and resilient Latino community members who are shaping the city through art, activism, education, culture and more.

Each year, DPL accepts nominations for the 2025 Latino Community Service Awards. Community members are invited to nominate individuals. Award winners are then selected by a committee consisting of community members and library staff.

Nominations close at 11:59 p.m. on June 6. The awards ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 4 at the Central Library’s Park View event space.

To submit nominations, visit: denlib.org/somos-latinos.
