OSHA opens investigation after worker dies at Broncos training facility construction site
CENTENNIAL, Colo. — The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the death of a construction worker at the site of the Denver Broncos’ new training facility.
Arapahoe County Sheriff’s deputies responded after 8 p.m. June 15 to what they described as a medical emergency at the construction site. Co-workers found the worker unresponsive in a confined ceiling area. South Metro Fire crews used tools to access the worker, who was pronounced dead on scene.
In an update June 22, the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Sven Johnson, 31. They’re still working to determine how he died.
Turner Construction, the lead contractor on the project, confirmed the worker was not one of its employees but rather worked for a subcontractor. In a statement, the company said it is supporting all investigations, including OSHA’s, and that the project site remains closed.
