Progress made on Rocky Mountain National Park fires
Weekend efforts were successful in the case of the two fires burning in Rocky Mountain National Park. One fire (Mirror Fire) is contained and the other fire (Forest Canyon Fire) is contained at 80%. The Forest Canyon Fire was particularly dangerous, burning six acres in an area that hasn’t been cleaned out by fires within 800 years, according to an official press release from Rocky Mountain National Park.
Trails and campsite closures have been lifted. Smoke may still be visible from these fires in parts of the park, including the iconic Trail Ridge Road.
