Wildfire shuts down I-70 near Denver

A large brush fire in Arapahoe County is causing problems for some Colorado residents.

Located near County Road 173 and I-70 in Byers, the brush fire has prompted evacuations and road closures. I-70 cuts through this area and is closed with no estimated time of reopening, according to Colorado Department of Transportation.

Some of the residents in Byers have been evacuated, including those on Cheyenne and Arapahoe Streets, as well as those living at the Royal Mobile Home Park.

The fire is currently at about 100 acres and is located 40 miles east of Denver. According to 9NEWS, more than 100 residents have been evacuated.
