Baseball-size hail falls in Colorado, with video showing off scary size of stones

Baseball-size hail reportedly fell in Colorado yesterday, as reported by two storm chasers on X. Video published from the scene shows just how big that hail is.

A video post about the hail was made by Jordan Hall, who was accompanied by Dan Fitts. The hail reportedly fell about 10 miles southwest of Akron, which is a town located in Washington County. Washington County is the same place where a ‘twisted’ landspout tornado was spotted just days ago.

According to Fitts, the hailstones measured at about three inches in diameter.

Most hail damage starts to occur when hail gets to be quarter-size or larger. It’s easy to see how devastating hail the size of a baseball could be if hitting a residential or heavily-populated area, as well as how it could destroy crops and put livestock at risk.

During spring and early summer in Colorado, hail tends to be more common. It’s crucial to heed advice posted by the National Weather Service. Find their forecasting information here.
