63-year-old hunter last seen near ghost town reportedly missing in Colorado
A hunter is reportedly missing in Colorado’s San Luis Valley region, last seen around noon on September 7 while hunting “near the top of Cow Camp” in the area of Osier. Osier is a ghost town in Conejos County, located about one mile from the Colorado–New Mexico border and about 40 miles southeast of Pagosa Springs.
A social media post from San Luis Valley Missing Persons that has since been shared by local search and rescue identifies the missing hunter as 63-year-old Louis Pacheco, described as 5-foot-8 with brown hair and eyes. He was last known to be on foot and in full camouflage.
Those hunting in the area have been asked to stay vigilant and to report any clues about Pacheco’s whereabouts to the Conejos County Sheriff’s Office at 719-376-2196.
While Osier ghost town is sometimes referenced as a populated place, it’s said to be completely devoid of residents as an old railway settlement. It previously made headlines in 2008 as the place where six lost snowmobilers who ran out of gas survived for multiple days amid a harsh blizzard.
