1 dead in shooting on Colfax in east Denver

Police responded to a shooting call at East Colfax Avenue and Josephine Street early Sunday morning.

Denver police have launched an investigation of the shooting death of a man on East Colfax Avenue early Sunday morning.

Police reported the shooting on social media platform X around 2 a.m. Sunday.

The shooting happened near Colfax Avenue and Josephine Street, just east of downtown, according to police. The intersection is blocks away from East High School and City Park.

In its X posting, police said they responded to a call of shots fired and pronounced the man dead on-scene.

Authorities are investigating the shooting as a homicide, police said.

In its posting on X, police didn’t specify any suspect or provide further victim information.
