2 shot, 1 dead overnight in Aurora parking lot shooting outside bar

Shots were fired in parking lot of 15064 E. Mississippi Ave., where two men were transported to the hospital.

One man is dead and another is in the hospital after a shooting unfolded in a parking lot outside a late-night bar and grill early Sunday morning, according to the Aurora Police Department.

At around 2:17 a.m., Aurora police responded to 15064 E Mississippi Ave., where two men were shot in the parking lot, according to Aurora police.

Police said one man was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, while the other man was transported with serious injuries.

At around 8:20 a.m., police announced one man died of his injuries.

Authorities have yet to identify a suspect in the shooting.

It is unclear what led to the shooting, police said.

The address labeled in the incident matches the Oasis Bar and Grill, an establishment that closes at 2 a.m. every night.

Owners of the bar told The Denver Gazette no employees or patrons were involved in the shooting outside.

“We are deeply saddened by the incident that occurred outside our establishment after closing hours,” owners said. “Our hearts are with everyone impacted, and we remain committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all.”

Separate shooting an hour later

Meanwhile, a separate shooting took place exactly an hour later at 11537 Highline Place. There, at 3:17 a.m., a man was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries following a shooting, according to police.

Officers immediately arrived on scene and detained multiple people, including the suspected shooter, the police said.

Police said the suspected shooter, detainees, and the victim all knew each other in that shooting.

The police noted no arrests were made and that it is unclear what led to that shooting at Highline Place.

The two Sunday morning shootings in Aurora are not connected, according to an Aurora police spokesperson.

Authorities ask anyone with information on any shooting to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
