Another 10″ of snow forecast to hit Colorado mountains as snowy start to season continues
After a September storm dropped 20-plus inches of snow in some high-elevation parts of the state, the first round of October snow is on the way.
According to reporting from Denver Gazette’s Jonathan Ingraham, the wintery weather will be moving through on Saturday and Sunday of the upcoming weekend, with accumulation possible at elevations as low as 7,500 feet. This time around, southwestern Colorado’s San Juans should see the deepest totals, with Ingraham reporting that accumulation in the range of six to 10 inches will be possible. The San Juans were missed by the September round of snow.
Elsewhere in the state, Ingraham predicts that around four inches will be possible in the central mountains and up to five in northern ranges. All predictions are subject to change, and National Weather Service mapping of expected snowfall will be released later this week.
