Small plane with 3 on board crashes on road in Colorado Springs

At about 4:15 a.m. on Wednesday morning, a small plane carrying three people crash landed onto Powers Boulevard at Barnes Road in Colorado Springs.

Thankfully, no injuries occurred, though a fuel leak coming from the plane did prompt extended lane closures during clean-up. It was later noted that no environmental concerns were expected due to the leak.

Traffic in the area was impacted during the morning rush hour and may be impacted for the “foreseeable future,” per a 5:45 a.m. report from the Colorado Springs Police Department.

The crash will be investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration. Images from the scene show the crashed plane just off the side of the road.
