Snow expected to hit Colorado mountains this weekend
It’s looking like some snow is setting up to hit Colorado’s mountains this weekend, though anticipated totals have been a bit downgraded from some initial reporting that indicated as much as 10 inches could accumulate in a few select high-elevation parts of southwest Colorado.
Per mapping from the National Weather Service, the hardest-hit spot should now be the state’s northern mountains in the area of the Continental Divide, though totals should top out at about six inches in the ‘high-end’ scenario (10% chance of that scenario).
The more likely ‘80% chance’ scenario shows peak totals ending up at about three inches, with snow even moreso restricted to higher elevations.

Impacts from this snow should be minimal with exception of those seeking to summit mountains in impacted areas. Even just a little bit of snow can mean traction and route-finding issues for hikers. Plan ahead accordingly and expect cold temperatures.
