Law enforcement conducting manhunt for fugitive in Blanca Peak region
Law enforcement is conducting a manhunt for Paul Sandoval, a fugitive wanted for felony sexual assault of a child, according to a press release from the U.S. Marshals service on Friday.
Sandoval is wanted by the Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office for the felony sexual assault of a child and other charges issued in 2021.
According to reporting from The Gazette, Sandoval was last seen on Friday with a red backpack, rifle and dog. Sandoval is described as a white male, 5-foot-11, 140 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
Law enforcement believes that the suspect is hiking along trails heading up to the top of Blanca Peak on the mountain’s southwest side.
According to the release from the U.S. Marshals service, Sandoval allegedly sexually assaulted his girlfriend’s 8-year-old daughter in March of 2021. He ran off into the mountains after a warrant was issued.
The Gazette reports that law enforcement identified him in Alamosa County in August after vehicle break-ins in the area.
Those in the area should be aware of the law enforcement presence and not contact Sandoval if they see him.
Anyone who does see Sandoval should call 911 immediately or submit a tip to U.S. Marshals here or by calling 1-877-WANTED2.
