Big presence of state troopers planned for busy mountain corridor this weekend
According to Colorado State Patrol, their agency will be ramping up efforts to stop dangerous driving behaviors on October 24 along I-70 in Summit, Eagle, and Garfield counties.
The operation will be highly visible in nature, with troopers on close watch for activities like speeding, distraction, and impaired driving. The reason that the focus will be on this specific stretch of the I-70 mountain corridor is that it’s a stretch where a high volume of crashes are known to occur.
“Whether coming up to the high country for the weekend or driving your daily commute, our ultimate goal is to prevent all injury, fatal and DUID/DUI crashes along this stretch of the Interstate,” stated Sgt. Eric Gentry, Colorado State Patrol. “We understand the importance of safe travel and are committed to ensuring a secure and pleasant journey for residents and visitors passing through this area.”
Drivers traveling in this area of Friday, October 24 can expect to see a high volume of troopers in the area. Per advice from a press release on the matter, drive sober, obey speed limits, and avoid distractions.
