The legend of the Augerino, a mythical Colorado creature you haven’t heard of yet
Colorado is no stranger to mythical creatures, including things like Bigfoot, tommyknockers, and more. A lesser known creature that’s said to lurk around the Centennial State, however, is the Augerino.
Described as legendary and indestructible, the worm-like Augerino creature reportedly prowls deep underground through the drier regions of Colorado.
The giant, terrifying, worm-like creatures are said to be shaped like a corkscrew or an auger (which is how the creature got its name).
According to 95 Rock, the creepy mythical creature has reportedly terrorized lumberjacks and ranchers around the Centennial State.
Lumberjacks and ranchers reportedly claim to have found burrows lined with silica and had constant issues with irrigation systems, ditches, dams, and other water systems. They blamed the Augerino’s burrows, as they let the water escape.
If stories of this creature seem far-fetched, 95 Rock even says that there was an investigation in Middle Park, Colorado in 1941 related to the Augerino. Locals had said that the monster was to blame for ruining waterways like ditches and irrigation systems.
Although Augerinos aren’t the most popular mythical creature roaming around Colorado and they’ve been seemingly quiet for the past couple of decades, they are an eerie presence among Colorado’s ranching communities.
