Grammy-nominated musician hits Colorado on trek down Continental Divide Trail
Grammy-nominated musician Mike Posner has officially crossed into Colorado during his ongoing mission to complete the Continental Divide Trail. OutThere Colorado readers might remember Posner’s name from his trek across America that took place in 2019, during which he was bitten by a rattlesnake while in the Centennial State. That incident required hospitalization.
Perhaps best known for his hit song ‘I Took a Pill in Ibiza,’ Posner’s latest update on his Continental Divide trek captures a scene that appear to be in the area of Rocky Mountain National Park. In multiple videos, the trails are seen covered in snow. Posner reports he’s about 1,500 miles into his 3,000-mile trek, with the most recent update coming from his 78th day of hiking.
Roughly 750 miles of the Continental Divide trail travel through Colorado, with the route also passing through Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and New Mexico. The self-supported record for the trail is 76 days, 10 hours, and 52 minutes, set by Brendan Hickman in 2023. The exact length of the full trail can vary due to various alternate routes.
If you haven’t heard one of Mike Posner’s tracks on which he’s a vocalist, you’ve probably heard a song he’s written, produced, or co-produced for other artists. That list includes hits like Justin Bieber’s ‘Boyfriend’ and Maroon 5’s ‘Sugar.’
As far as outdoor recreation goes, it’s also worth noting that Posner summited Mount Everest in 2021 in honor of his late father, raising more than $230,000 for a non-profit that works on criminal justice reform in the process.
