Sun glare closures to begin on I-70

The daily sun glare closures on eastbound I-70 on Floyd Hill are set to begin on Nov. 3.

The closures will last through February and last for about an hour between 6:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.

The exact time the closure starts each morning changes slightly over the four months as the sun’s position in the sky changes. The detour for the daily closures is exit 244/Highway 6 east to Highway 40 east.

The typical delay is between ten and 15 minutes but can be longer depending on traffic. The Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office says that if your travel is east in the morning you should plan for extra time for the sun glare closure. Overcast or snowy days are exempt when there isn’t any sunshine.
