Wildfire breaks out in Gunnison County

A wildfire broke out on Saturday afternoon in Sun Park, which is west of Gunnison and north of Beaver Creek Road.

Gunnison County Emergency Management posted that the fire was reported at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and that the Gunnison Volunteer Fire Department and Gunnison Regional 911 Center are aware of it. Smoke was visible from Highway 50.

In an update at 7:50 p.m. on Saturday, Gunnison County Emergency Management said that the fire had grown to 4.5 acres and that emergency crews evacuated all campers in the area.

Fire crews will continue working on the fire.
