Iconic winter festival set to celebrate Norse god of snow in Colorado
It’s nearly time to welcome winter and hope for snow at Breckenridge’s annual Ullr Fest – an iconic celebration to kick off the season.
Ullr Fest is held to “praise Ullr, the Norse god of snow, in hopes of a powder-filled ski season.”
Breckenridge Ullr Fest will be on Dec. 18-20 this year. The event will take place on the town’s Main Street and includes many exciting events.
Some of the biggest events of the festival include the Ullr Parade down Main Street, where creative floats head down the road, and an attempt to break the Breckenridge Distillery Shotski “unofficila World Record. Breckenridge Distillery and the Breckenridge Mountain Rotary will continue their mission to obtain the unofficial world record for longest Shotski. This year, they’re looking for 1,420 people to beat Park City’s record.
The Ullr King and Queen will also be crowned at the festival. GoBreck.com says that nominees should “be involved in the Breckenridge Community, love snow and should be passionate about Breckenridge’s wacky traditions.”
