Colorado zoo lights display in the running for best in country
The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s Electric Safari was nominated for USA Today’s 10Best zoo lights award for 2025, and voting is now open.
USA Today’s 10Best is a readers’ choice awards program that highlights the best in destinations, food and drink, hotels, and things to do. Nominees are selected by an expert panel and the readers vote to determine the ten winners for each category.
As the temperatures get colder and the snow starts to fall, zoos across the nation turn into glowing wonderlands as they are decorated with stunning displays of lights. Readers can vote once a day for their favorite zoo lights display until voting ends on Monday, Dec. 1 at noon.
The ten winners for USA Today’s top ten zoo lights displays will be announced on Wednesday, Dec. 10.
According to USA Today, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s Electric Safari includes more than 85 light sculptures. Guests can also see select animal exhibits during the event, watch a holiday light show, enjoy hot chocolate, and heat up at the warming fires throughout the grounds.
