Fire burns 85 acres in Arapahoe County
A grass fire sparked in Arapahoe County, east of Denver, on Saturday afternoon and burned about 85 acres.
According to the Strasburg Fire Department, the fire started when welders were performing maintenance on a metal gate. Firefighters responded to the scene on South County Road at around 1:16 p.m. They found a ten acre fire that was fast moving, and grew to nearly 100 acres.
However, the Strasburg Fire Department said that “quick and decisive action by all crews involved protected multiple residences, and nearly a dozen outbuildings and trailers.”
The fire grew to about 85 acres before firefighters brought it under control.
Firefighters with Strasburg, Byers, Sable-Altura, Bennet, Rattlesnake, and the Deer Trail Fire Departments helped to contain the fire.
