Popular Colorado Christmas market to return – this year bringing festivities to two cities instead of one

The Denver Christkindlmarket is returning to the Mile High City for its 25th anniversary this year at a new location.

This year, the market will debut at its new location on the Tivoli Quad at the Auraria Campus, running from Nov. 21 to Dec. 23. The market is changing locations due to upcoming construction at its former location, Civic Center Park.

“We’re thrilled to welcome visitors to the Market’s new home,” said Samantha Seems, executive director of the German American Chamber of Commerce – CO Chapter, in a press release. “The site’s rich German heritage, rooted in the historic Tivoli Brewery, makes it a perfect fit for our holiday celebration of tradition and community. With more space for guests to explore, proximity to downtown, plenty of parking, and access via public transit, this location offers both charm and a visitor-friendly venue.”

As an authentic, German-style holiday market, the Denver Christkindlmarket includes local and European craft and food vendors, and lots of entertainment. It includes music, twinkling lights, and the Mile High Tree.

New this year at the Denver market is the Western Carousel – a restored 42-foot Herschell Carousel that features hand-carved horses and vintage charm. The ride is available for $5. Another addition is a glass ornament workshop where guests can learn about the centuries-old tradition of German glassmaking. Guests will get to created their holiday keepsake in a hands-on 30 minute session.

The market kicks off with a traditional ceremonial keg tapping with Prost Brewing Co and Denver Mayor Mike Johnston and a prologue reading from the Christkind on Nov. 21. Some other events include Krampus Nacht (Dec. 5) and St. Nikolaus Day (Dec. 6).

In other exciting news, the German American Chamber of Commerce – CO (GACC-CO) is also opening a new location in Colorado Springs’ Old Colorado City that will run from Dec. 11-14 and from Dec. 18-23.
