Basejumper rescued after accident in Utah
A basejumper was rescued after an accident in the Kane Creek area of Moab, Utah on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
According to a Facebook post from Grand County EMS, multiple agencies, including Grand County Search and Rescue, the Grand County Sheriff’s Office, Classic Air Medical, and the DPS Aero Bureau responded to the incident on the afternoon of Nov. 12.
The post said that authorities were dispatched at 1:08 p.m. A team member reached the patient at 3:15 p.m. They secured the patient so there was no risk of further fall and provided advanced treatment for moderate injuries.
At 4 p.m. the patient was hoisted from the cliff face to a landing zone with DPS Aero Bureau, then moved to an ambulance.
The basejumper is now in stable, non-life-threatening condition, according to Grand County EMS.
“While yesterday’s incident gained public attention because it was visible from town – these types of rescues are exactly what we train for and do on a pretty regular basis,” reads the Facebook post. “It’s a privilege to serve this community alongside such dedicated professionals, and to bring people home safely.”
