Colorado resort expected to get foot of snow over next 5 days
Amid a dry season thus far, Colorado’s skiers and snowboarders are getting desperate. That said, this weekend should bring some decent snow totals to a few spots around the state.
According to the high-end National Weather Service snowfall forecast, some high-elevation areas could get about 18 to 24 inches of snow through Monday morning, particularly the peaks of the Park Range in northern Colorado. Even in the more likely ‘expected’ snowfall scenario, many peaks around the state could get around a foot of snow or more during the same time frame, favoring peaks in central and northern Colorado.
It’s looking like this wintery weather could pay off handsomely for some Colorado resorts. According to OpenSnow, Steamboat Resort could get up to 12 inches of fresh powder over the next five days. It’s worth noting that most other resorts should get at least half-a-foot of snow, too. Find the full OpenSnow resort-by-resort breakdown here.
The snow in the Steamboat Springs area is sure to be welcomed by locals and visitors, alike, as this part of the state is at just 25 percent of the snowpack that’s typical for November 28. This compares to 36 percent of the typical snowpack for the date statewide.
