Man arrested after tackling teen to ground at pro skiing event in Colorado
A bizarre altercation took place at the Copper Cup professional skiing event at Copper Mountain last weekend, involving an adult allegedly assaulting a juvenile.
According to a report from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, the situation started when an older man was kicked out of a restricted area. The man believed this was the result of an undescribed deliberate action of a nearby teenager, also believing the teen was following him around the event.
Led by his suspicions, the man confronted the teenager while the boy was watching the event and taking photographs. The older man then allegedly tackled the teen to the ground “without provocation.”
An investigation ensued, resulting in the older man being arrested on multiple charges, including assault and criminal mischief. The criminal mischief charge was related to how the teen’s camera was reportedly damaged during the incident.
All suspects are to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. All charges are merely accusations.
