Colorado’s top ‘boomtown’ saw per capita income rise 52.5% in recent years
With Colorado’s population seeing a boom compared to the pre-pandemic years, many of the state’s suburbs and smaller towns have grown in a big way. The Centennial State wasn’t the only place to experience significant demographic shifts, either, with many places around the country experiencing a ‘boom’ as lives changed drastically and people found new places to call home.
A recent report from GoBankingRates sought to determine which spots saw the biggest shifts in each state, growing to be what the company described as a “boomtown.” In order to determine which places around the U.S. (with the exception of Hawaii) had the biggest ‘boom,’ population and income data from 2015 and 2023 was compared.
In Colorado, the spot with a population between 25,000 and 500,000 that experienced the biggest ‘boom’ was determined to be the northern Colorado town of Windsor. Located roughly 10 miles northeast of Loveland and 10 miles southeast of Fort Collins, the town’s population grew 75.6 percent between 2015 and 2023 to 35,918 residents. All that growth helped to boost the per capita income in a big way, too, which increased 52.5 percent over that same period. In 2023, the per capita income in Windsor hit $55,691, per the GoBankingRates report.
