Ice Castles set to open this week at Summit County location
The Silverthorne location of the popular Ice Castles attraction will officially open for the season on Friday, December 19 at 6 p.m.
“As we step into our 15th anniversary season, it feels especially meaningful to come full circle and return to Silverthorne where our first commercial Ice Castles came to life,” said Kyle Standifird, CEO of Ice Castles. “We are honored to once again open in Silverthorne and to share a beautifully crafted castle with thousands of guests, celebrating the magic that started it all. The Town of Silverthorne and Outlets at Silverthorne have been exceptional partners during this journey.”
According to a press release, the ice artisans have been working to get the attraction ready for opening day even with the unseasonably warm temperatures across Summit County this winter.
The attraction features an icy landscape filled with ice slides, towers, tunnels, and caverns that create a “whimsical, fairy-tale environment.” This year, the icy fortress will also include the Frozen Tap Ice Bar which will serve chilled beverages. Guests can also get warm beverages and indulgent sweet treats from the on-site concessions.
The Ice Castles will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but will be open daily throughout the Christmas break.
