Woman dead after reported “disturbance” outside U.S. Forest Service office in Colorado

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is heading up an investigation into the death of a 38-year-old female from Granby with the assistance of local law enforcement.

At this time, not much information related to the case has been released to the public, though the investigation stems from an initial call for help that was received at about 12:05 p.m. on December 20. Authorities were called to the area of the USDA Forest Service Sulphur Ranger District Office on a witness report of a “disturbance” that took place outside of the office. This office is located at 9 Ten Mile Drive West, which is about half-a-mile south of the main downtown area of Granby.

According to a witness, two males were seen placing a female into a vehicle, with one of the males then driving the female to Middle Park Health Emergency Room – directly across Highway 40 from the Forest Service office.

A report on the matter indicates that the woman was found to have no significant injuries, though she was pronounced deceased at 1:02 p.m.

The 38-year-old’s cause-of-death will be determined by the Grand County Coroner’s Office. As this is an active and ongoing investigation, no additional detail is available at this time.
