Suspect accused of planting homemade explosive devices along trail in Denver area

The Cherry Hills Village Police Department operating on the southern side of the Denver metro area is asking the public for help in solving a case that has involved a male suspect allegedly placing homemade explosive devices along High Line Canal Trail.

An initial post about the matter came on December 19, detailing that six incidents of damage to trash cans and sign posts have occurred over the last two months, with damage seeming to be caused by small, crude, homemade explosive devices. According to that report, most, but not all, of the incidents had occurred along High Line Canal Trail south of Quincy Avenue, with images of the suspect captured during the evening of December 17 and the early morning hours of December 18.

A follow-up report posted on December 29 indicates that the suspect was spotted over the weekend in another alleged attempt to damage trash cans, also seen allegedly preparing explosive devices. This sighting again occurred along High Line Canal Trail.

The suspect was described as a male with a thin build, approximately 5-foot-10 to 6-foot-2. He was seen wearing a winter jacket, pants, hiking/hightop shoes, gloves, a beanie, goggles, and a utility belt with a tactical pouch.

According to authorities, the suspect has been using a higher wattage e-bike for transportation with a dark frame, wide tires, and handlebar mittens.

Anyone with information in the case has been asked to submit a tip on the Cherry Hills Village Police Department website. Additional images of the suspect can be found here.

All suspects are to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. All crimes noted in this piece are merely accusations at this time.
