Telluride Ski Resort will partially reopen on Monday as the ski patrol strike continues for a second week.

In a media release from the resort on Saturday, Telluride Ski Resort announced that Lifts 1, the Children’s learning center and Meadows magic carpets will open on Monday, Jan. 5.

The resort said that more lifts and terrain will open as soon as possible pending the resolution of the negotiations.

The resort also reportedly made a new offer to ski patrol on Saturday, revising the proposal to total $81,500 for each year of the contract and include:

  • An increase in the base rate for Station Leads (formerly the supervisors) to $41 per hour, which was the union’s last request.
  • A complexity pay bonus equal to $1.50 for all hours worked, including overtime hours paid out mid-season and end of season.
  • A three year contract.
  • Annual increases tied to COLA (cost-of-living adjustment) in year two and year three.

The Telluride Ski Patrol responded to the offer in an Instagram post on Saturday, saying that the ski company only moved money around.

“They reduced the COLA (cost of living adjustment) from their previous offer in year 2 and 3, moving it over to the new ‘complexity bonus,'” the post reads. “The difference in proposals is relatively the same.”

“Going to the press in the middle of negotiations and delivering a deceptive proposal is not negotiating in good faith,” the post continues. “The company continues to use intimidation, bad faith bargaining and unfair labor practices instead of treating us as equals at the table.”
