Less than 10% of trails open at some Colorado resorts amid snowpack near record lows

With Colorado’s statewide snowpack near all-time lows – at about 61 percent of its to-date long-term median and at a lower point than all but two of the last 39 years for January 5 (2000, 2018), here’s how much terrain is open at Colorado’s resorts as of January 5, 2025:

  1. Arapahoe Basin: 9 of 147 runs (6.1%)
  2. Aspen Highlands: 91 of 117 runs (77.7%)
  3. Aspen Mountain (formerly Ajax): 47 of 104 runs (45.2%)
  4. Beaver Creek Resort: 21 of 167 runs (12.6%)
  5. Breckenridge Ski Resort: 46 of 193 runs (23.8%)
  6. Buttermilk Ski Area (Aspen): 34 of 44 runs (77.3%)
  7. Copper Mountain: 38 of 157 runs (24.2%)
  8. Crested Butte Mountain Resort: 64 of 168 runs (38.1%)
  9. Echo Mountain: 4 of 12 runs (33.3%)
  10. Eldora Mountain Resort: 22 of 61 runs (36.1%)
  11. Granby Ranch: 17 of 45 runs (37.8%)
  12. Keystone Resort: 45 of 142 runs (31.7%)
  13. Loveland Ski Area: 21 of 96 runs (21.9%)
  14. Monarch Mountain: 56 of 80 runs (70%)
  15. Powderhorn: 7 of 57 (12.3%)
  16. Purgatory Resort: 51 of 107 runs (47.7%)
  17. Ski Cooper: 39 of 65 runs (60%)
  18. Snowmass (Aspen): 41 of 98 runs (41.8%)
  19. Steamboat Ski Resort: 93 of 183 runs (50.8%)
  20. Sunlight Mountain Resort: 1 of 77 runs (1.3%)
  21. Telluride Ski Resort: 2 of 149 runs (1.3%)
  22. Vail Ski Resort: 92 of 277 runs (33.2%)
  23. Winter Park Resort: 39 of 171 runs (22.8%)
  24. Wolf Creek Ski Area: 100% open (133 of 133, according to Piste Maps)

It is worth noting that some snow is set to hit the state this week, so changes in terrain status may occur.
