15-year-old arrested after firing shots near Pueblo skatepark

Pueblo police arrested a 15-year-old after the teen fired three rounds near El Centro del Quinto Sol and its skatepark on Monday, according to a news release by the department.

Officers responded to the area of North Fountain Avenue and North Glendale Avenue after a report of shots fired and found a male in the 600 block of East 6th Street who matched the description.

The department’s Shot Spotter system originally reported the three gunshots, and a description of the suspect was given to officers from their real-time crime center, according to the release.

The juvenile allegedly admitted to police he fired the gun, which was recovered by officers.

He was booked into the Pueblo Youth Services Center and charged with possession of a firearm by a juvenile and prohibited use of a firearm, according to the release.
