Skier death under investigation after man found unresponsive on black diamond run in Colorado
A skier death is under investigation in Colorado’s Summit County after a 59-year-old male was found unresponsive on a black diamond run called The Grizz on January 7, which is located in the resort’s Outback area.
The skier was visiting the resort from the Front Range and was found by other guests who immediately initiated CPR efforts and call for help.
Keystone’s Ski Patrol arrived at the scene to perform advanced life-saving measures before transporting the skier to a nearby helicopter landing zone. The skier was then flown to St. Anthony Summit Hospital in Frisco via Flight for Life where he was ultimately pronounced deceased.
The sheriff’s office received the report about the ongoing incident at about 12:20 p.m.
According to the sheriff’s office, the skier was wearing a helmet when he was found. No additional details have been released related to his cause of death or identification.
