Amusing livestream of America’s most notorious ski run shows many come to look – but few take the drop
Perhaps no ski run in America is better known and more notorious than Corbet’s Couloir at Wyoming’s Jackson Hole resort. With a 20-foot drop and a 50-degree pitch, it looks steep and extreme in images and video and looks even more steep and extreme when one is standing on the ledge above it.
Obviously, this run is for experts only, and even experts can struggle to make it down without a fall. Given its status as one of the most talked about runs in the country, it will frequently attract spectators, too, and many passersby can’t help but feel the urge to ski up for a glimpse down the chute.
Can’t make it to Wyoming to see the show in person? This week brought good news for you – Corbet’s Couloir is now live-streamed on the Jackson Hole website and YouTube. That said, don’t expect a show of people ripping drop-in after drop-in at the spot – it’s mostly skiers inching toward the edge for a glance below or posing so a friend can take a photo – amusing in itself, and clear evidence of the status that Corbet’s Couloir has achieved over the years as a run that demands attention.
