Off-grid Airbnb in Colorado features roll-out bed for sleeping under the stars
A recent report from Airbnb highlighted the company’s ‘most loved’ offerings of 2025 on a worldwide scale, creating the list by looking at which ‘Guest Favorite’ listings got the most engagement on TikTok and Instagram.
On a list that includes an Alaskan stay in a massive cargo plane, a luxury apartment near Italy’s Lake Garda, a ‘secret treehouse’ in Hawaii, and sprawling architectural stunner woven into the lush landscape near Mexico City, a humble off-grid Colorado cabin that appears to span a couple hundred square feet made the cut to be featured, too.
Dubbed the ‘Star of the Wild,’ this cabin stay is located on the edge of national forest land, described as about five miles from the remote Penitente Canyon and in close proximity to all the rock climbing and mountain biking that the area has to offer. The closest town is Del Norte, found a few miles away on the western edge of the vast San Luis Valley with a population of about 1,500.
A key perk of this Airbnb is that the bed can be rolled either inside or outside of the cabin, allowing guests to sleep comfortably under the stars in an area with virtually no light pollution.
Catering to the darkness of the area, the property has no yard lights, so guests should bring headlamps. The shower – described as a ‘jungle shower’ – is located in the greenhouse, and there’s a hot tub that’s available for guest use, too.
With a five-star rating on Airbnb, Star of the Wild guests rave about the nightsky views and the intimate getaway feel.
