A look at the object that prompted bomb squad response at Colorado state park
On the evening of January 20, Colorado Parks and Wildlife announced that the Pueblo Police Department Metro Bomb Squad and the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office were investigating a suspicious object that was found at Lake Pueblo State Park. As a result of the investigation, the public was asked to avoid the area between the nature center and the dam, which is located on the eastern side of the park.
The report came just a week after a pipe bomb device was found in alleyway garbage near Pueblo’s Fire Station 1.
While in that prior case, the pipe bomb was confirmed to be an explosive device, it was announced that the object found in the area of Lake Pueblo State Park was not a threat to the public about seven hours after the situation was made public. The object found at Lake Pueblo State Park turned out to be solid metal.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife thanked law enforcement for their speedy response.
