A skier’s guide to Eldora Mountain: Terrain, dining, lodging, parking, and more

Often referred to as Boulder’s “backyard” mountain, Eldora Mountain ski area offers skiers the perfect spot for a quick, convenient, and high-quality ski day without the hassle of I-70 traffic.

Eldora is regarded as a top resort for beginners and kids, with great lessons and easy terrain, though it also offers glades and steeps for more advanced skiers. The resort is also home to the Woodward terrain parks and a strong cross-country ski area with a friendly, local vibe.

The most noteworthy terrain:

Little Hawk Mountain (Green) – this dedicated learning zone offers a progressive setup including easy green runs like “Easy Way” magic carpets, and a slower speed chairlift.

Powderhorn (Blue) – this popular blue run has a steeper pitch, making it a great option for beginners looking to move to harder terrain.

Klondike (Blue) – offers a steeper section for intermediates looking for a challenge.

Brian’s Glades (Double Black) – although this run is rated as double black, the trees are widely spaced and offer a unique and less crowded area for intermediates to try tree skiing.

Salto and Moose Glades (Double Black) – found off the Corona lift these glades are known for their stashes of deep powder and tree skiing.

West Ridge (Double Black) – this run offers steep, bumpy runs, and tree skiing.

Where to park:

The Main Lot and Bear Lot are the general parking areas at Eldora. The Alpenglow Lot is closest to the Alpenglow chairlift. There is also the Elk Lot which is reserved for vehicles with three or more occupants.

Where to eat on mountain:

The Lookout – located at 10,600 feet near the Corona Chair, this restaurant offers pizza, sandwiches, chili, and more.

West Wing Grill – offers quick options like Chicago dogs and more for a fast refuel during the ski day.

Caribou Lodge Cafe – another convenient spot for on mountain dining.

Timbers Grill & Taphouse – this popular spot at the base area serves burgers, beer, and plenty of fun apres-ski vibes.
