America’s ‘most popular’ disc golf course is located right here in Colorado
In a state where there are so many activities that make for a great way to spend a sunny day, it’s easy to overlook some of the niche sports. That said, if you haven’t tried disc golf yet in Colorado, this is your sign!
Relatively cheap to get into and often taking place amid stunning terrain, disc golf can be great in many parts of Colorado year-round thanks to the ample sunshine, especially when it comes to courses along the Front Range – and believe it or not, one of those courses is actually the most popular course in the United States.
A report recently released by UDisc took a look at which courses had the highest number of rounds recorded on their app on a state-by-state basis, with about two-thirds of the 16,000-plus disc golf courses worldwide being located in the United States. Once the numbers were crunched to determine which American disc golf course was the most popular, Arvada’s Johnny Roberts Disc Course came out on top.
Built in 1978, this course is free to play and beginner-friendly. It consists of 18 holes and has an estimated length of about 1.4 miles – though that’s not accounting for chasing down discs around the green. In addition to being the most popular course on the UDisc app with 45,858 rounds logged in 2025, it’s also got a respectable 4.4-star rating with 9,166 app users chiming in to share their opinion. It’s also worth noting that this course is relatively short with most holes having a length between 153 feet and 225 feet – one reason it’s particularly great for beginners.
If you haven’t tried disc golf out and you’re wanting to give it a go, the Trash Panda website is a great place to gear up – it’s a local disc brand that uses sustainable practices.
