A skier’s guide to Granby Ranch: Terrain, dining, lodging, parking, and more

Granby Ranch is known for providing skiers with an intimate, uncrowded, and accessible mountain experience, making it a perfect choice for those looking for a laid-back Colorado ski trip.

The ski area consists of two distinct mountain experiences (East Mountain for beginners/intermediates and West Mountain for more advanced skiers), as well as other fun options including night skiing and tubing. Located near the western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, the resort is also a convenient option for Front Range skiers (as it’s only about 90 miles from Denver).

The most noteworthy terrain:

Buckhorn (Green) – located on East Mountain (the area for beginners/intermediates), this is a wide, groomed run perfect for beginners ready to progress from the magic carpet.

Milestone Lift (Green) – this lift services green runs including Ace and Daisy.

Snowshoe (Blue) – this run follows a scenic, winding route down the mountain.

Jackpot (Blue) – also located on the West Mountain, this run is known for its fun layout.

Ghost Rider (Blue) – with entry-level moguls, this run offers intermediates a great chance to practice skiing in more varied terrain.

High Roller (Blue) – this is a longer blue run and offers a big vertical drop along with stunning views of the Continental Divide.

Rimfire (Black) – accessible from the Conquest Lift, this glade offers powder and tree skiing.

Dean’s Glade (Black) – also accessible form the Conquest Lift, this run offers great tree skiing.

Where to park:

Parking is free at the main lot and Montana lot, both located near the Base Lodge and providing easy access to rentals, lessons, and dining.

Where to eat on mountain:

First Chair Cafe – fuel up for the ski day with coffee, breakfast sandwiches, pastries, and more.

Bluebird Bistro – located at the mountain’s base, this lively bistro offers modern mountain food including pizza burgers, and BBQ.

Where to eat in town:

Maverick’s Grille – this family-friendly spot has diverse options including burgers, Mexican, and BBQ, and green chili.

Granby Garage Roadhouse – serves up steaks, brews, and much more.

Brickhouse 40 – this is a more upscale restaurant serving Greek-American food with a rustic-chic ambiances, and fireplace.

Lina’s Pizza – serves pizza, wings, and meatballs.

Where to stay:

Inn at SilverCreek – centrally located in Granby, this inn offers condo-style units with pools and hot tubs.

YMCA of the Rockies – Snow Mountain Ranch – this large complex features lodges, cabins, and activities.

Littletree Inn – located in Granby, this Inn offers great mountain views.

Trail Riders Motel – this budget-friendly option is located in central Granby.

Events going on at Granby this winter:

Apres ski live music – on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the season.

Night skiing – Granby Ranch offers skiers the chance to enjoy the East Mountain under the lights on select dates throughout the season.
