Suspected dine-and-dashers allegedly assaulted over unpaid $100-plus tab in Colorado mountain town
A violent confrontation related to an alleged dine-and-dash situation took place in a Colorado mountain town last weekend, according to local authorities.
Fraser Winter Park Police Department reports that officers responded to a disturbance on the evening of February 1 at the local Stop & Save convenience store in which a male suspect was reportedly threatening others with a handgun.
The confrontation between the individuals was said to have stemmed from a male and female allegedly leaving a Fraser restaurant without paying for more than $100 in food and drinks. After leaving the restaurant, which was identified by local news source Sky-Hi News as Fuego Azteca in Fraser, two restaurant employees are said to have followed the alleged dine-and-dashers when the pair boarded a bus in the Murdock’s parking lot. The confrontation occurred after the two exited the bus. One restaurant employee was accused of pointing a firearm at the alleged dine-and-dashers while the other restaurant employee reportedly put the suspected male dine-and-dasher in a chokehold.
The restaurant employees, two locals aged 50 and 23, were arrested on the felony charge of assault in the second degree. The reason for the arrest of the suspect who allegedly brandished the weapon also included a class five felony charge of menacing.
Meanwhile, the two alleged dine-and-dashers were issued a summons for petty-level theft and violation of a protection order.
All charges noted in this report are based on an affidavit of probable cause and all suspects are to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
