10 spring skiing events to look forward to in Colorado

Colorado’s ski culture comes to life in the spring, with everything from skijoring races and beer-fueled apres parties to pond skimming and live DJs. Although the snow may be slowing down for the season, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy the Colorado slopes.

Here are some spring skiing events you’ll find around Colorado this year:

  1. Frisco Brewski

Date: March 7

This is a beer festival that takes place on skis at the Frisco Nordic Center. Participants will wear costumes and stop at beer tasting tents along the Frisco Nordic Center’s trails to sample beer from Colorado breweries. There’s also a chance to win prizes for the best costumes.

2. Enduro at A-Basin

Date: April 8

This leg-burning event at Arapaho Basin consists of 35 teams of two taking laps up the Pallavicini Lift and skiing or riding down the mountain on designated lines from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. – ten straight hours. And they usually don’t take a break. The event is followed by a free beer and chef-prepared dinner at the A-frame. All proceeds of the fundraiser go to a local resident “near and dear to A-Basin’s heart.”

3. Peaks & Beats

Date: April 25-26

This music series at Breckenridge includes everything you could want out of a Colorado spring skiing event, including high alpine laps, live music and DJs, and the pond skimming event. Peaks & Beats takes place at the base of Peak 8.

4. Spring Bash + Splash

Date: April 4-18

This multi-weekend festival takes place in Winter Park and features a mix of outdoor activities, music, themes, partis and a pond skimming event.

5. Leadville Ski Joring

Date: March 7-8

Ski Joring is an event in which a horse and rider pull a skier through a course including gates, jumps, and rings. The Leadville Ski Joring event has been going on since 1949, and is reportedly one of the premier events of its kind in the U.S.

6. Cardboard Classic

Date: April 11

This wild Steamboat tradition features teams launching homemade sleds made out of cardboard, glue, string, and “a whole lot of questionable engineering.”

7. Splashdown Pond Skim

Date: April 12

Also taking place at Steamboat Ski Resort, this rowdy tradition features skiers and riders dressed up in their best retro gear or wildest costumes and attempting to make it across an icy pond. Spectators can enjoy watching “big airs, bold moves, and plenty of laughs.”

8. American Airlines Celebrity Ski 2026

Date: March 5-8

This event will return to Beaver Creek and draw athletes, entertainers, and philanthropists to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The event includes world-class skiing in Beaver Creek and custom-fitted gear and race clinics. Evenings will include meals, cocktail receptions, and a private concert.

9. Ski for NCSD

Date: March 22

Guests are invited to ski Winter Park Resort to raise funds for adaptive outdoor programs benefitting youth and adults with disabilities. The ski day will include lift challenges, scavenger hunts, and a spring skiing costume contest.

10. U.S. Telemark Nationals

Date: March 11-14

The U.S. Telemark Nationals will be held at Eldora Mountain. The event is set to include possible demos, bands, and more.
