Colorado spot said to be the ‘easiest city to navigate’ in the United States

People who have lived places where getting around isn’t super easy – due to heavy traffic, poor infrastructure design, or otherwise – know how much of a relief it is to move somewhere that it’s simple and stress-free to travel from one side of town to the other.

A recent report from Holafly tackled the topic of how easy – or difficult – it is to get around various cities worldwide, and while no American city was ranked among the 20 easiest cities to navigate on a global scale, a Colorado city ended up ranking as the easiest place to navigate in the United States – Colorado Springs.

The publication pointed to the quick average commute being a contributing factor in Colorado Springs’ high rank. From a local’s perspective (this writer), the city is, indeed, easy to navigate, especially when traveling north or south thanks to I-25 and the presence of the mountains on the west for guidance.

It’s also worth noting that downtown is fairly calm compared to that of other cities of a similar size, as well as that the western half of the city is pretty easy to navigate, too. When headed east or west on the side of the city found east of I-25, there’s a bit of stop and go thanks to numerous stop lights and the lack of a major highway traveling toward the plains, but that just means slower travel, not finding your way is more difficult.

In general, for a city of around 500,000 residents, getting around Colorado Springs is about as simple as it gets. Of course, there are still bad drivers, there’s still post-work congestion, and like anywhere in Colorado, road construction is never hard to find. That said, in terms of getting from point A to point B, this local’s only complaint is the massive suburban sprawl that sometimes adds many miles to a trip.

Also included in the ranking was Aurora, Colorado, deemed the 7th-easiest city in the United States to navigate.

Worldwide, the easiest city to navigate was Helsinki, Finland and the most difficult city to navigate was Delhi, India. The most difficult city to navigate in the United States was said to be Los Angeles.
