New ‘Blucifer’s First Rodeo’ music festival to be held in Denver this summer
A new local music festival is coming to Denver’s South Broadway this July, run by artists and highlighting DIY culture.
The festival, Blucifer’s First Rodeo, aims to “throw a party that invites the larger Denver community to experience the diverse and talented scenes of live, local music.”
The festival will feature South Broadway and DIY venues, as well as neighborhood porch and backyard shows. At least 80 local bands will perform, and the event will also include a guide to throwing your own house show.
Blucifer’s First Rodeo will be announcing the first lineup drop at Skylark Lounge on March 6, with music starting at 8 p.m. The 30 acts in this lineup and official festival dates will be presented, and all access wristbands will go on sale. Blucifer’s First Rodeo is joining an all-local show with Handknit, Mystee, and Caspar Milquetoast to announce the first lineup.
As far as the namesake of the festival goes, most Coloradans are well-aware of ‘Blucifer’ as a sort of character in Denver lore. Officially called Blue Mustang, this massive horse sculpture greets those traveling into the Mile High City from Denver International Airport.
